On August 13, 1695, a 70,000-strong army under the Marshal of France François de Neufville, Duc de Villeroi attacked Brussels. The French launched a massive bombardment of the city centre with cannons and mortars, setting it on fire and flattening most of the city, and with it, the Grand Place, leaving only rubble, fire and destruction. 313 years later, one if his descendants still roams around the damned city....
